About

About Andy Hopla.

I am an IT Service Management, Service Operations and Digital Transformation leader with around a decade of experience delivering and managing business-critical technology services.

My background spans IT service operations and service management, major incident management, problem and change management, supplier management, service improvement, infrastructure and telephony. I have led technology services supporting complex multi-site organisations and have experience delivering significant technology and digitisation programmes.

Building on operational experience

I am now building hands-on AWS and cloud engineering skills alongside that established ITSM and operational background. My current work includes Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation, while I continue to develop my capability in AI.

My hands-on AWS work includes S3, CloudFront, Route 53, ACM, Lambda, IAM and CloudWatch, together with Terraform and GitHub Actions. I hold AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and ITIL Foundation certifications and am continuing to develop my AWS architecture skills.

Connecting cloud delivery and service management

Cloud technology needs strong service management, governance and clear operational ownership. Security, monitoring and continual improvement are essential to delivering and managing services throughout their lifecycle.

My current projects give me a practical way to combine these disciplines. I built and operate NextFoundry, an AWS-hosted commercial website, and am developing Pulse, a cloud-based SaaS product. Through this work, I can bring my service management experience into hands-on cloud delivery and consider how services will be operated and improved as they develop.
